Alison Friend is a British realist painter known for her modernist vision and captivating animal portraits. A Fine Art and Printmaking graduate, Alison was also the first female stonemason for the City of Nottingham and an accomplished illustrator with over 20 children’s books published by leading names like Harper Collins and Nosy Crow.
Inspired by nature and infused with humor, Alison’s dreamy brushstrokes bring her characters to life, from animals enjoying ice lollies to wearing woolly hats or smoking cigarettes. She describes her process as uncovering the personalities of her subjects, saying, “It’s like a waiting room until it’s their time to come out!”
Her original oil paintings and limited-edition prints are highly sought after by collectors worldwide. Alison has exhibited in renowned galleries across the UK and internationally, with showcases at the British Art Fair at Saatchi Gallery, Context Miami, and Hashimoto Contemporary in LA.
